11 Lessons My Husband Taught Me to Be My Best Self as a Woman

Updated: Mar 6

I made a mistake when I thought that my husband had a big responsibility of making me feel like a woman. We celebrated 11 amazing years of marriage this month, and over that time, I learned these 11 lessons about being a woman from my husband.

1. A woman's value is not defined through fine clothes and jewelry.

Her value is not based on how she looks outwardly, but on how she lives with principles. You cannot hide ignorance by wearing nice shoes and jewelry. A woman of wisdom stands out wherever she goes.

2. A woman does not need somebody to make her feel valuable.

Whenever a woman knows how to appreciate herself, she knows how valuable she is. She finds her value in knowing her purpose and striving to fulfill it.

3. A woman does not need a man to make her feel complete.

God has already made her complete, even from the time of creation.

4. A woman's home is an extension of her personality.

How she organizes everything and how she manages her home reflects who she is on the inside.

5. A woman is meant to receive love.

A woman's fuel is love. If she receives love, she functions the way she is meant to function.

6. A woman does not depend on a man to achieve her dreams.

A woman has a potential that a man doesn't have. Everyone is created with the capacity to achieve what God intended for them.

7. Every woman is born a leader.

A woman's leadership can be perceived in an entirely new light when she is aware of who she is and the roles she plays in life, whether being a mother, businesswoman, or government official. She was destined to be a leader in her field.

8. A woman's mind is an awesome machine.

It's not her mouth, though! It's her mind! You'll be amazed at the manner of thinking that God provided the woman. You'll never get a simple idea back if you drop a thought or an idea into a woman's mind; instead, you'll get a wholly formed strategy.

A woman knows how to navigate through problems when things become crazy. She doesn't stop thinking until the issue is resolved. Guys are similar to file cabinets. They collect issues, record them, and then close the file inside a drawer.

9. A woman is God's idea.

Adam never thought of needing somebody to partner with him. He was busy doing God's business on earth. It was God's idea for a man to have a companion, so He created a woman out of man. If you hurt a woman, you hurt God's idea. If you value a woman, you value God's idea.

10. A woman should remain connected to her Source.

Her joy does not depend on somebody else. Her satisfaction is not found in somebody else. Of course, a woman's ultimate Source and Provider is God, and she can always turn to Him. She is not dependent on men because she knows everything comes from God.

11. Men and women are equal.

Finally, my husband taught me that men and women are equal. Males and females were equally formed, but they were also made differently. Despite having different physical and emotional makeup, females are not less than males.

Who is more important in a band, the instrumentalists or the vocalists? Everyone is important and takes part in the success of an event. These differences are not weaknesses, but rather mutual strengths because both complement each other. Both need each other, that's why they are called partners. They are equal in the eyes of the Lord who created them.

Because of these life values, we celebrate love every single day. We may not have all the material possessions we wanted, but we know, if we continually seek wisdom and live in God's principles, all those things are just add-ons!

I hope this post has increased your value of being a woman.

You are loved. You are valued. You are the apple of God's eyes.

Happy International Women's Month!
