Rise Above the Rest: 7 Life Lessons We Can Learn from Eagles

Updated: Mar 6

God compares people to eagles, but why? Why not a falcon, a parrot, or any other bird?

Eagles are known for their majestic presence and powerful flight. They have been a symbol of strength, freedom, and wisdom for centuries. These magnificent birds have a lot to teach us about life and its challenges. From their hunting techniques to their nurturing parenting skills, eagles have a lot to offer in terms of life lessons.

In this article, we will explore the seven features of an eagle that Dr. Myles Munroe listed and how we can apply it to our daily lives. We will examine their innate ability to soar above the clouds, their tenacity in the face of adversity, and their unwavering determination to achieve their goals.

Whether you are an aspiring entrepreneur, a student, or simply looking for inspiration, there is much we can learn from these remarkable birds.

1. Eagles fly alone at a high altitude. They never associate with smaller birds.

The eagle soars to heights that no other bird can.

In life, you must not mingle with the people who will not believe in your dreams. Rather, be with the people who will help you cultivate your inner strength. There are also times when you have to fight alone, fly alone, and be alone for you to freely use your gifts and abilities.

2. Eagles have a strong vision.

They have a focal range of up to 5 km. Even a rodent can be seen by an eagle from this distance, and when he spots it, he narrows his focus and begins to pursue it. The eagle will not divert his attention from the prey until he has captured it, no matter what obstacles come his way.

Have a vision and remain focused on what you see. Obstacles may block your way, but be sure not to lose focus! As you pass through each blockage, you'll see success one at a time.

3. Eagles are the only birds that love the storm.

When clouds gather, eagles get excited. They use their wings during the storm to rise and be pushed up higher. While they are flying through the storm, they will stop flapping their wings, instead, they use the pressure of the raging storm to soar the clouds and glide. This allows the eagle to rest its wings. Unlike the eagles, all the other birds hide in the leaves and branches of the trees when there is a storm.

As the highest form of creation, you have the choice to use the storms of your life (obstacles, trouble, etc) to rise to greater heights. Achievers relish challenges and use them profitably.

4. The Eagle tests before it trusts. When a female eagle encounters a male and they decide to mate, she flies to the ground while the male chases after her and plucks a twig. She takes off again, and the man follows her. She watches the twig fall to the ground once she has climbed to a height that is comfortable for her. The male runs after the branch. The more quickly it falls, the quicker he rushes after it until he catches it and must deliver it back to the female eagle before it hits the ground.

When the female eagle decides it is high enough, she catches the twig and soars to a much greater height while being pursued by the male. She then drops the twig for the male to catch. When the female eagle is certain that the male eagle has learned the art of picking the twig that demonstrates commitment, and only then, will she let him to mate with her, this process continues for hours with the height rising.

One should assess the dedication of potential partners in all areas of life, including relationships and business. You can't just put your trust in those who will betray you as soon as they realize you are no longer necessary to them.

5. Eagles do not eat dead things.

They feed on fresh prey.

You are created to be creative! Do not settle on outdated and old information. Do not copy someone else's idea or revelation. Keep yourself updated on new strategies and skills. Always give time to self-development. Formulate your own ideas and get excited to innovate.

6. Eagles prepare for training.

In preparation for flying, the male and the female eagles remove the soft grass and feathers from the nest so that the young will become uncomfortable and eventually fly.

People that care about you push you hard to advance and flourish rather than letting you wither away in indolence.

7. When the Eagle grows old, he stays in a hiding place until he has grown new feathers before he comes out.

His feathers deteriorate and are unable to carry him as quickly as they should. He retires to a remote location in the rocks when he feels weak and on the verge of passing away. He removes every feather from his body there, stripping himself bare in the process. He comes out from hiding after his new feathers have grown.

There will be moments when you need to occasionally let go of old habits and things that weigh you down and don't bring anything to your life.

If eagles have these characteristics, how much more a great person like you! It is time for you to unleash your inner strength!
